Several law enforcement agencies responded late Monday to an active shooter on the campus of Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich., according to a university police dispatcher.
The dispatcher could not confirm local news reports that multiple people had been injured, adding that information would be released through official police channels.
Around 8:30 p.m. local time on Monday, the university’s Police Department sent an alert urging people on campus to “secure-in-place immediately.” The school police said shots were fired near Berkey Hall, home to the school’s college of arts and sciences, and the suspect was believed to be on foot as of 9:15 p.m.
Michigan State Police confirmed they were responding to an active shooter but did not provide any further details.
